Photographic Style Reflection

This week I learn about how to define your own style in photography and here are some points I gathered: ◙    Style is always developing. Style can always change with new experiences and new inspirations. Sometimes a current style can become outdated for us which may fuel us to start developing into different styles and ideas. This is perfectly okay. ◙    Listen to what doesn't work. Being honest with who you are is vital in developing one's style. When we are shooting it is important to pay attention to our personality. Our photography shows our personality. What did you like? What don't you like? Is there something that you feel uncomfortable about? Reflect on these things. ◙    Look at other artist's work. It is good to look at other sources for inspiration. There might be something about another artist work and reasoning that you resonate with and could spark a really good idea. Always look for  inspiration. ◙    Take your own journey. Don't rob yourself try

Storyboard

I look to see who is next. 2) Drawing materials laid out on the desk ready for use. 3) On the desk in-front of me lies a blank sheet of paper accompanied with my MacBook behind to display the original photo. 4) As I draw and draw I become more and more oblivious to time. 5) I am precise about what type of pencil to use for different parts of the portrait. This makes all the difference in my drawings. 6) A pencil carrying its purpose. 7) Motion.  8) I drop the pencil as my hand endures the pain caused by the constant grip of the pencils. 9) A sense of pride fills the air as I acknowledge the finished piece with the original.  10) A collage of my work laid out on a desk. My passion.

Lab 6 - Marilyn Bridges

Image
Name: Euphemia Agbaw-Ebai B00125770 Marilyn Christine Bridges is an American photographer noted for her fine art black and white aerial photographs of extraordinary ancient and modern landscapes. Many of her photos consist of light and dark shades. All of her photographs are black and white so there is already a restriction on colour.  I think her photography is aesthetically pleasing to look at. I feel the black and white bring out a lot of abstract detail in the photos. I think the black and white also set a calm mood to her  photography. I feel the colour gets boring to look at after a while.

Lab 5 - Composition

I had to lay down on the ground to get this angle. I was trying to get an angle that makes the lines on the floor look like they are leading out to somewhere which I think I achieved in this shot. Image 2 F/5.6. 1/60s. ISO 800. 49mm. Vertical lines This is an image of a tree I took outside of my house. I could notice how the leaves of the tree were all pointing downwards and formed lines.  Image 3 F/5.6. 1/25s. ISO 400. 25mm. Horizontal Lines Horizontal and Vertical lines on the cupboards of the kitchen.  Image 4 F/5. 1/8s. ISO 400. 28mm. Rule of Thirds This is an image I took of a shoe shelf under my staircase. The pair of heels we see right in the middle of the picture is meant to be the main subject of the photo.  Image 5 F/5. 1/60. ISO 6400. 24mm. Composition I found composition really challenging. I wasn'

Lab 4 - Creativity

Lab 4 - Creative Lab Exercise Name: Euphemia Agbaw-Ebai B00125770 Exercise 1 Shutter 1/40.   Aperture F/13.   ISO 800 Don't Move I took countless of shots standing in the same position. I chose this one because I feel satisfaction with the balance and the vertical and horizontal lines. This image gives me a sense of home and comfort.   Exercise 2 Shutter 1.   Aperture F/22.   ISO 6400 Uniqeness There is nothing crazy about this image. I just love the simplicity of it. The light was dull in this room so I set a high ISO to bring out the beautiful whites in it. Exercise 3 Shutter 1/800.  Aperture F/8.  ISO 200 4 corners I took many shots of this shoe, positioning it in different corners of the frame. This one probably came out the most balanced out of all of them. I think the background is balanced well in this shot. I like how the colours in the back are simple and then the shoe has a lot of abstract detail to it. Exercise 4 Shutter 1/200.  Aperture F5.6.  ISO 400 Scenery This is

Lab 3 - Aperture

Image
Lab 3 - Aperture Euphemia Agbaw-Ebai B00125770 Image 1   Aperture F/9 . Shutter 1/2000. ISO 800. Image 2 I took some shots of my own hand. I figured the wider the aperture the less depth of field I will create. I took more shots with this effect. Image 2   Aperture F/4.5 . Shutter 1/3200. ISO 800. I really love this up-close shot of my friend. I created a blurry background by using a very wide aperture. I like how the camera focuses on the subject nearest to the camera. Image 3 Aperture F/8 . Shutter 1/4000. ISO 6400. Another shot I took to practice depth of field photography. I like the aesthetic and clear focus on the headphones while the background is blurry. I think this is a really cool effect.
